Sheikh Ahmed is an al-Azhar-trained scholar whose academic work has focused extensively on the encounter between Islamic tradition and modernity through the thought of Habib Abu Bakr al-Mashhur.
He holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham, where he examined this intellectual project, and a BA in Islamic Studies from al-Azhar University.
From 2014 to 2022, Sheikh Ahmed studied Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt privately with Habib Abu Bakr al-Mashhur, received multiple ijazat to teach the discipline, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt from Al-Marsad al-Nabawi at Al-Wasatiyya University.
