Join us for a special interactive evening with Sheikh Ahmed Saad Al-Azhari, exploring the life, times and intellectual legacy of Habib Abu Bakr al-Mashhur — the pioneering Yemeni scholar who dedicated more than three decades of his life to articulating and codifying Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt, the Jurisprudence of Change and Transformation.

Sheikh Ahmed is uniquely placed to introduce us to this remarkable scholar and his project. Having studied privately with Habib Abu Bakr al-Mashhur for years, received ijazat to teach Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt, and dedicated his doctoral research to Habib Abu Bakr’s thought, Sheikh Ahmed brings together the perspective of a direct student and an academic researcher.

Rather than a conventional lecture, this will be a live, interactive conversation before an audience that explores the questions behind the discipline: Who was Habib Abu Bakr al-Mashhur? What led him to devote his life to this field? What is Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt, and why did he believe it was so important for our age?

An evening of conversation, scholarship and reflection — and an opportunity to discover the man and ideas behind the Jurisprudence of Change. 

Sheikh Ahmed Saad Al-Azhari is an Egyptian-born, UK-based Islamic scholar, author, and Founder and Dean of Ihsan Institute for Arabic & Islamic Studies. A graduate of Al-Azhar University and a PhD from the University of Birmingham, he has studied extensively in the traditional Islamic sciences, with particular expertise in Qur’anic studies, Māliki fiqh, Arabic language and literature, Islamic thought, spirituality, and contemporary Muslim life.
