Ustadah Nageba Hayel

Biography

Born and raised in Liverpool, England, Ustadha Nageba Hayel embarked on her journey of sacred learning at the age of 19 when she left the UK to pursue Arabic studies at Damascus University in Syria. Driven by a passion for deepening her understanding of Islamic knowledge, she then moved with her family to Tarim, Yemen. There, she spent six transformative years studying at Dar al-Zahra, where she later served as a teacher for two years before returning to the UK in 2006.

Throughout her studies, Ustadha Nageba was privileged to learn from esteemed female scholars of the Hadramout Valley, including Hababa Nur bint Muhammad al-Haddar, Ustadha Zaynab al-Khatib, and Ustadha Halimah al-Aydarous, embodying the tradition of female scholarship passed down through generations. 

Today, Ustadha Nageba serves as a resident teacher at both the Greensville Trust in the UK and Dar al-Zahra, Liverpool, where she continues to inspire and guide students in their pursuit of authentic Islamic learning and spiritual development. Her teaching is characterised by clarity, compassion, and an emphasis on connecting knowledge to lived practice.
