In the famous Hadith of Jibril, the Prophet ﷺ teaches us the essential dimensions of the religion: Islam, Iman and Ihsan. The hadith then turns our attention to another dimension: the signs of the Hour and the transformations unfolding as history moves toward the End Times.

How should Muslims understand these changes? How do we engage with the upheavals of modernity, social transformation and times of confusion without falling into fear, sensationalism or speculation?

For more than thirty-five years, the renowned Yemeni scholar Habib Abu Bakr al-Mashhur dedicated his life to gathering and systematising the Qur’anic and Prophetic foundations for answering these questions. His work developed into a distinct discipline known as Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt — the Jurisprudence of Change and Transformation.

Rather than treating narrations about tribulations and the End Times as material for prediction or speculation, Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt asks how this Prophetic inheritance should shape the believer’s understanding, conduct and response to a changing world — recognising shifts and their consequences, maintaining clarity in confusing times, avoiding destructive attitudes towards other Muslims, and remaining anchored in Allah amid the turbulence of modernity.

Over two days, participants will study the first primer in the structured curriculum of Fiqh al-Tahawwulāt and receive an introduction to the discipline’s foundations, terminology, and methodology. The workshop will explore how this body of Prophetic guidance relates to and safeguards the dimensions of Islam, Iman and Ihsan, giving students a practical intellectual toolkit for approaching the realities of our age through the Qur’an and Sunnah.
